Mike Giant’s “The Mile High Life” at FFDG.
For their last exhibition ever on February 12th, the fantastic FFDG in San Francisco, California will be ending their amazing run with Mike Giant’s solo show, “The Mile High Life.” Mike Giant, now Colorado-based, is a legendary graffiti, illustration and tattoo artist known for his distinct, graphic like illustrations. He will be showing 36 new drawings and several collaboration pieces with Jason Siegel for “The Mile High Life” all of which are ruminations of his past three years in Boulder, Colorado.
It’s incredibly upsetting to see FFDG saying goodbye - they’ve been a constant source of incredible artwork and inspiration for me and countless others. It makes me really curious why Silicon Valley isn’t filling all their homes with art like they should be, keeping places like FFDG going. When I first visited San Francisco in 2009 there was so much art that it made me turn this blog, which was more of a personal blog, into a full time art blog which eventually completely changed my life. It’s all very disappointing to think about as well as confusing, it shouldn’t be this way.
Any way, thank you FFDG for giving me 8 years of beautiful shows and bringing wonderful art to my eyes and new artists to admire. (And that one time I saw Mike Giant outside a show of yours in 2012 but was too scared to say anything, that was cool too). You are an incredible gallery. I’ll miss you.
